MAUPINFEST
a documentary about a celebration of old time music and dance
On one day every fall, an annual tradition of old-time music and dance takes the stage in the scenic backroad 'unincorporated' community of Rover, Tennessee.
Making the pilgrimage are bands from Tennessee and neighboring states, devoted to playing old-time music with traditional instruments like fiddles and banjos, and their own homemade odd additions such as kazoos, a washtub bass, and an audio funnel from a Victrola phonograph. Joining these musicians are fleet-of-feet artists from America near and far, dedicated to the preservation of buck dancing and flat foot dancing.
It's just too much history and fun to be contained in one day - so that's a good-enough reason for this professionally produced video documentary named after the event - MAUPINFEST.
